Hi. My name is Jennifer Rogers, my maiden name was Davis. My primary language is English; I took Spanish in highschool but was not that interested, instead I have always enjoyed Sign Language. I was born and raised here in California; I'm a country girl!! I have lived in Newcastle, Ophir and Foresthill. Currently I am living in Newcastle, preparing to PCS up to Washington within the next year, after my husbands deployment.
I am a caucasion female. Technically I am catholic, but have never practiced and never been interested, as it is not my belief.
What is important to me? Trust. Trust is the base of any and all relationships, without it, I don't see the point. I take pride in that I am trustworthy and loyal, and expect the same of those who I let into my life. Growing up, I had the BEST childhood! I grew up as a country girl, camping, fishing, riding horses, hunting, listening to good music and barbequeing. My life greatly changed at the age of ten though; my parents divorced when one of them was unfaithful, and ended up marrying the person they cheated with. Not only did my brother and I have to deal with the divorce, but a new step-parent who neither of us (to this day) respected or even liked. That must be the event that drilled the trust issue into me.
I am married to my wonderful husband, Greg, who I have been with for nine years. We have two beautiful boys, the oldest is 3 1/2 years and the youngest is 4 months. My husband, who is 26 is preparing for his 3rd deployment with the US Army, and has earned a Purple Heart from his second deployment. I am lucky enough to be a homemaker and stay at home to raise my beautiful children.
For six years, just before my first son was born I worked for Placer County Office of Education with Severely Emotionally Disturbed minors, ages Preschool through Highschool - the best job in the world! I loved my job, but was happy to say goodbye so to be at home with my new baby!
Working with the families in my previous job, I encountered many different cultural issues, and I say issues because there was often a clash of opinions between staff and parents, and it was our job to find a common ground to best serve the children and their families and create an IEP. One thing we never had a chance to do was to really learn about their culture and the reasons for certain things - that is one thing I am hoping to gain from this HD 25 class - a better understanding of other cultures and what is behind them.
Free time?? What's free time?? Haha, I have a 4 month old and 3 1/2 year old, I don't have free time! I am a stay at home mommy, so my kids are always with me, but when we take a break from kiddie stuff, I jump at the chance to be outside - I love working outside, I love my blower, weed eater, wheel barrow! I love burning, gardening, raking, just anything physical outside! If I am not too tired after the kiddos go to bed I do yoga, read, or homework! (like right now! haha).
We listen to music all the time! I am an old school rock n roll girl! I also love Jack Johnson, love Michael Jackson, and old school country, like Hank Jr and Sr. (which can be heard in the background of all the home videos from my childhood!)
Not really sure whatelse to add, as I am pretty private, but I think you get the idea of who I am ... COUNTRY GIRL!!! not affraid to get dirty and don't need a man to do my work for me!! hehe, but I do love my Army Man!!! Support our Troops!!
